Some of my favorite clients are children and teens. I use a wide variety of methods to help kids and parents draw upon their best selves to solve their problems and work  better together as a family. I encourage parents to look at their own fears and anxieties and how those get in the way of their being present to their children's needs.  I use a lot of humor, fun, and listening when working with children and families.

My job is to help you as a couple reclaim what is good about your relationship and build on that to reach common goals.  We will look at the conflicts that you have been avoiding, how to get out of old ineffective patterns, develop better communication skills, set healthy boundaries, and learn how to effectively address challenges together. Every healthy relationship requires both the individuality of each participant and the collaboration of the partnership. We will work together to find the balance of the two.

Common topics for couples counseling include:

•  Building trust
•  Communicating effectively
•  Managing conflict
•  Intimacy
•  Affairs
•  Relationship stagnation
•  Parenting
•  Adoption
•  Foster care
•  Divorce
•  Cultural differences
•  Empty nest
•  LGBT couples
•  Aligning around common values

“In the end, just three things matter:

How well we have lived

How well we have loved

How well we have learned to let go”
